I am beginning my third year of living in Spain and would like to obtain residency to work next September. This year I have received a visa to do a Master’s program which I am going to be unable to complete due to other obligations. I know that when I apply for my renewal next year they will ask for proof that I completed my studies and would like to know my options. Do I need to find another program and request a new visa or could I show them that I completed different studies when I request to renew again without problems? Thanks.
Hi Austin, I am very sorry for the long delay in answering your question. Officially you need to show that you completed the studies that you originally came to Spain to do in order to renew your “estancia de estudiante.” However, if you show that you completed different studies that sound similar it is possible that you could slip by without the person who approves your application noticing. I can’t say that we recommend doing that.. but if you’re a risk taker, you could give it a try, and if your renewal is not approved you would have to go back to your home country to apply for a new visa.
