How can I apply for a work permit if I am already in Spain as a student?

I am currently working as an Auxiliar de Conversación and studying a Master degree. I have an opportunity to start working with a friend as a Socio in his business but am confused of how to do this with my student visa. I think that the best bet is to stay another year on a student visa and then apply for the working (I currently have been in Spain two years and read that you need three before upgrading to a working visa). Do you agree with this method and do you have any tips of doing it without going back to the states and going through the Visa process all over again? Thank you

Hi there, have you seen our list of work residency options that can be applied for from Spain? The one that might be relevant to you is the tech entrepreneur visa.  But it would have to be a high-tech, high-growth business you are going to be a partner in. If that doesn’t apply to you, your friend could potentially hire you as a “highly skilled worker.”   Here is the page where we have provided links to additional information on each option: http://spainguru.es/residency-options/
