I’m an auxiliar de conversación and my TIE renewal was denied. What can I do?

Question

Hi all, student visa question. I just found out my TIE renewal was denied. I am shocked, because I’m a 5th-year auxiliar and have always successfully submitted my own renewals. I haven’t received the letter yet stating the reason for denial (I didn’t consent to electronic notifications). Right now do I really just have to wait to receive the letter before I can do anything about appealing? I went to the extranjería office in Sevilla today, and of course they were not helpful in any way. I want to do something right now, but it seems like all I can do is wait?

I am still an auxiliar, but switched schools. Every year I get approved, and I’ve switched schools and regions. I don’t know why they would suddenly deny it this time.

I heard the ministry started limiting TIE renewals because it wasn’t meant to be a long term option for people to stay in Spain so it might be coming from both now.

I submitted it on July 1st, and they just made the decision on September 9th. Sevilla office.

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:

“you need the reason.”

“Once you receive the letter there will be more information and maybe it’s just that you’re missing paperwork or something like that so there’s like an appeal period to my understanding.”

“that has nothing to do with the extranjería, though. Like they’re not going to deny TIEs from people who have been an aux for awhile.”

“Try this link and tell them your situation. https://ssweb.seap.minhap.es/ayuda/consulta/ExtranjeriaCG

“I would go to a Gestor or bilingual immigration lawyer for a consultation.”

“Girl, after 5 years maybe you could find an academy to sponsor you, it’s one benefit of not having to deal with this kind of stuff anymore, I can’t imagine how stressed you are atm” (Answer from author: “I’m trying but so far was only hired for part-time. Hoping I can find something full-time so that I could do cuenta ajena or arraigo social.”

“Update in case this helps anyone: What happened was that I had presented my renewal at the registro in Valencia. I told the guy to send my documents to Sevilla extranjería, but he sent it to Valencia by accident. At the time he told me that he had made that mistake, but he immediately sent it to Sevilla as well. He told me that Valencia extranjería would just ignore it and not to worry. He was wrong. The only expediente on record was received by Valencia, and they forwarded it Almería since that was the last address listed on my TIE. Almería saw that my carta was for Sevilla and then just automatically denied it. Yesterday I managed to talk to Sevilla extranjería in person by getting a toma de huellas cita, and luckily the guy was very helpful. He admitted that it was extranjería’s error, and they are going to remove the denial and approve my renewal. So relieved it’s sorted now!”
