Question about the Digital Nomad visa Spain

How soon should you register for Social Security and Tax after the Digital Nomad visa Spain approval? Can I just register after getting my physical TIE (30-40 days after approval)? Is this too late?

“It depends if you are employee or autónomo. If you are autónomo, I’d arrange for it as soon as possible. For one, you won’t have public health cover and won’t be insured for accidents etc. until you do and for 2, you cannot invoice your client(s) until you do. You don’t need your TIE to be able to do it. Just your NIE number and an accepted Spanish bank account. The gestor whose services you engage for this will be able to get you a digital certificate and social security number, then register you with both the Seguridad Social and the Tax Office.”

“My lawyer says that it is too late and that I shouldn’t wait for my TIE. With the resolution you should be able to register as autonomous”

In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, after receiving the Spain Digital Nomad visa approval, it’s advisable not to wait until you receive your physical TIE (which usually takes 30-40 days) to register for Social Security and Tax. Some members of Spainguru’s Facebook group recommend registering as an autonomous worker (or autónomo in Spanish) using the resolution, even before obtaining the TIE. According to a lawyer, waiting for the TIE might be considered too late for registration.
