Question
Is it better to apply for a Spain Non lucrative visa or a Spain Digital Nomad Visa as a content creator?
Answers
These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
”Spain Digital Nomad Visa is you’re going to be earning money”
”Spain Digital Nomad Visa if you’re planning to continue earning money thru creating content”
”You’ll be fine applying for the Spain Non lucrative visa because content creation is not “gainful employment or professional activity”. Many don’t understand the difference. To qualify for the NLV the income you make should not be by employment or contracted by a company to perform a service or activity.
The Spain Digital Nomad Visa on the other hand allows you to be employed or contracted by a company as long as it’s outside of spain. In the case of a content creator you are basically earning money on your own “assets” which is know as passive income. Even if you continue creating. Now the challenge of a content creator applying for the NLV would be proving the income is sustainable and sufficient enough to cover the requirements of the visa”
”You Can’t work at all on a Spain Non lucrative visa”
”DNV. I know it’s harder to get DNV, but well… rules are rules, and the last thing you want to happen to you is they find out and they deport you out of Spain”
Conclusion
In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, if you intend to earn money through content creation and maintain it as a source of income, the Non-Lucrative Visa (NLV) may not be suitable.
The Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) is recommended for those who plan to work remotely or be employed outside of Spain, allowing more flexibility for professional activities. While the NLV restricts work within Spain, the DNV offers a legitimate avenue for employment, albeit with potentially more stringent application requirements.
It is emphasized that adherence to visa rules is crucial to avoid deportation, even if obtaining a DNV may pose greater challenges.
