Question
Any tips on booking appointments at the Los Angeles Consulate to apply for an Spain Non Lucrative Visa? August is out, and I’m hoping for September, but I’m not having much luck.
Answers
These are the answers of Spainguru’s Facebook group members:
“I did the same as others have suggested here. Checked every 10-15 minutes. I saw appointments show up once around 8:30 am and twice around 6-10 pm. It varies, and it’s tiresome, but you’ll find something eventually.”
“I am in Arizona Mountain Time. I had both my phone and laptop bookmark saved. Checked in 5/10/15 minute increments at work and at home.”
“More will for sure drop, and people cancel all the time, so you’ll have random appointments show up some days. Good luck!”
“When I made our appointments back in March, I had the calendar up on my phone, computer, and tablet. I refreshed one of them every 5 minutes from the moment I woke up until I went to bed. On the third day, around 6 pm, one whole day opened up. I snagged two back-to-back appointments.
They were all gone in less than 30 minutes. What helped was I already had an account in their system. I made us NIE appointments, created an account, then canceled the NIE appointments. When it was time to book our Visa appointments, I already had a login.”
“I’ve been monitoring for eight weeks. Noticed full days get unlocked on Sunday evenings from 6-8 pm Pacific Time. Never saw one at any other time. Thing to be aware of: you have to have a separate email and phone for each appointment, as you can only have one on the books at a time, and everyone needs an individual appointment.”
“The people at the consulate say Monday and Wednesday, but that it’s all controlled from Madrid. During the summer, they only have one employee in visas at a time.”
“We saw the appointments become available at all times, anywhere from 9 am to 10 pm. When we were ready to get an appointment, we set a timer to go off every 15 minutes. It took checking four times an hour for 12 hours. Eventually, we saw them around 1 pm that day and booked our appointments.”
“I also used my phone. I had first found an appointment for another service on the LA consulate website and booked it. I saved the info/password and canceled it the next day. This puts your info into the system so you can grab an appointment quickly when NLV appointments show up.”
Conclusion
Booking an appointment at the Los Angeles consulate for the Spain Non Lucrative Visa can be a time-consuming task. Group members recommend frequent monitoring, especially on weekends or evenings, as full days tend to open up during those times.
Multiple devices and setting reminders every few minutes can improve your chances. Creating an account in advance with another service appointment can also speed up the booking process. Persistence and patience are essential in navigating this process.
