Question
What’s the process to transfer car ownership in Spain? It would be from my dad to me, so the car isn’t being sold, we just want to change the owner. Can we do it online on DGT?

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
“It’s the same process so you’ll have to pay taxes etc and fees to dgt. You’ll need to draw up documents saying he’s giving to you etc then visit traffico.”

“As long as you’re over 25 years old, you car drive your dad’s (or anyone else’s) car without having to ‘inform’ the insurance company or any other institution.
If you do want to change the ownership, just ‘buy’ the car from your dad – it’ll be an easier process. Depending on the value of the vehicle (its engine size etc.) you shouldn’t pay more than, say, €100 – you’ll have to fill in the ‘Modelo 620’. In the link below you can check what the Hacienda thinks the car is ‘worth’ (though your ‘compraventa’ price needn’t be exactly the same as the Hacienda’s valuation): https://www.seisenlinea.com/calculadora-valor-coche…/”
“the buyer and I had prepared all the necessary documents in advance, and we bought went to tut DGT, and – instead of doing the ‘Notificación de venta’ – we actually did only the ‘Cambio de titularidad’ part! https://sede.dgt.gob.es/…/cambio…/index_con_tabla.shtml”
“If the car is more than 10 years old you won’t have to pay any taxes on it. However everybody has to pay the 53 euros to complete the process. You can pop into your local DGT office to pick up transfer ownership form. All of this can be done online if you have a digital certificate, cl@ve or miDGT app.”
