Question
Is it a requirement to have one full year of health insurance paid for the non lucrative Spain visa application? Or can we pay month to month? We do not have a bank account in Spain yet. What do you recommend?
Answers
These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
“Required policy is for 1 year regardless of payment. Payment scheme is between u & insurance company only”
“It really depends on your consulate. I’m London we had to show the receipt for full payment!”
“Agent Carlos (Adeslas) can sort it out, check here”
“Strictly it needs to be paid upfront and the consulates can and do check that the policy is paid for. Also one of the conditions of the visa is that there should be no waiting periods often the companies that allow you to pay monthly have waiting periods, they may say they don’t and they will supply a certificate to that affect, now they get around the issue by applying no waiting to emergency treatments only! So ASK for example onclology, chemotherapy, medical hospitalisation, dialysis, paediatric, physio, psychiatric, all can have waiting times of up to 12 months, it is a long list! So be careful there are advantages to paying annually (in year two by all means pay monthly) . The other point I would make is if someone cannot afford to pay upfront then can they afford to move! IF you need advice PM me or visit gospain.co.uk.”
“Yes, some consulates request longer.. I work for a health insurance provider.”
“You pay for the year usually, and your can pay with a wise account, which you’ll probably want in the long run anyway.”
