Question
I have been looking for information on the Spanish gov website about the validity of UK blue badges in Spain, but I cannot find any clear information, so I wondered if you may have some. My mother who is coming to live with me in Spain has a blue badge issued by the UK. Can we use it in Spain and for how long? And can we just exchange it for a Spanish one or do we have to apply via the ‘Seguridad Social’
Note for the ones that don’t know what a UK Blue Badge is: If you’re disabled or have a health condition that affects your mobility, you can apply for a Blue Badge in the UK. You can also apply for a badge if you care for a child with a health condition that affects their mobility. Councils can charge for a blue badge. The most you can be charged is £10.

“No you can’t use in spain and you can’t exchange it, you would need to reapply and have medical”
“You can’t use them now! Another bonus to Brexit! You have to go to social services, who will ask for a doctor’s letter stating the reason, then fill in the application and send it to the central office, who will eventually call her for a medical and then make the decision. The reason for all this is because it is not just a parking permit, it has a lot more benefits!”
