Just had my Spanish Digital Nomad application approved!
Freelancer from the UK, did it from Valencia through a lawyer.
I was 3 days over my 90 days schengen allowance as well… I submitted the application 2 weeks before my days ran out.
I had to write a letter saying that I did not have my social security document yet but as soon as I was approved for the visa I would register as Autonomo (Freelancer).

What did I have to translate?
I translated everything including contracts (with the help of google and my spanish partner), but only my university degree and ACRO Certificate needed an official paid translation.

One month!
Did you submit contracts with your clients?
Yes I had to submit them, they requested them after my initial submission
Did you have one long contract lasting a year? Or just evidence that you’d worked with the client for a long time with short non continuous contracts?
I have a couple of contracts lasting one year and evidence of regular payments into my bank account from those, I also have contracts that were from the last year but are not current. I included letters from my clients that stated they had been working with me since X date and how much they paid me and that they were happy work remotely.
My lawyer told me that I’d be approved for the visa only for as long as my contract. Since you’re a freelancer, was that the case for you?
No mine is until 04/26/2026, so 3 years! I had contracts lasting only until August upon submission.
How many months proof of payment did they require?
I submitted a year’s worth of bank statements with payments from current and past clients
