Non lucrative Spain visa application: How can I provide a Spanish address for the Spanish health insurance without having one yet?

Last Updated on March 18, 2026 by Bruno Bianchi

Question

We are getting our Spanish health insurance for the non lucrative Spain visa but they need a Spanish address…was anyone else in this situation and how did you resolve it? We have no friends in Spain (yet!) and we don’t have an Airbnb or anything rented at this time.

Answers

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:

”Get your Spanish health insurance after you have an address”

”We rented a property before we applied for our non lucrative Spain visa.”

”You don’t need your visa or insurance to get an address in Spain”

”Every consulate is a little different. When I applied in Washington DC, I just used an Airbnb address and rented a place later. It was fine.”

”Try a different insurance company. Adeslas doesn’t require a Spanish address.”

”We booked a house through Airbnb for 30 days in the town we’re thinking of moving to and also advised the owner what we were doing. Using Airbnb address. We have our Spanish health insurance policy starting November 1st and also booked Airbnb starting Nov 1st. We don’t have the visa yet but the DC embassy told us in the next three weeks, fingers crossed. But if we need to we’ll rebook the Airbnb to mid-November”

”I did mine with an agent I got in contact with through my lawyer. She got me a policy for my whole family”

”I used a broker and used his address”

”I called and the agent gave me the address of the local council house (ayuntamiento). Honestly, I don’t think it matters. And you can change it afterwards”

”Sanitas just used their own address until we moved to Spain and I supplied them with our rental address when we found one”

”We had rented an apartment, so we had an address. Others have used the address of their AirBnB”

”We insured through ASSSA, and used our temporary hotel address when we arrived as our local address. No problem or issue”
