Question about the Spanish nationality appointment
I’m currently here with a non lucrative Spain visa and since I’m Latin American I want to apply for Spanish nationality. I hired a lawyer and he told me we needed to first ask for a first Spanish nationality appointment, I’ve been waiting 3 months already for this appointment and still nothing. Is this normal?

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
”The process with my lawyer was quick and straightforward. Submitted mine in March and was granted my citizenship 6 months later”
”I’ve made the decision to submit it myself! I have someone (like a gestor) who is going to look it over for me and submitting this Friday. I hit the 2yr mark Aug 27th and not waiting a month past that! Honestly, if you have the electronic certificate, I’ve come to the conclusion to submit myself. If you want, message me”
”Just my opinion but Spanish lawyers are not the most diligent, my freind had his residency held up for 3 months because his lawyer went on a stag do to Barcelona and in his haste to get on the lash forgot to send off some paperwork regarding my mates S1”
”Our lawyer never took more than a few weeks to be able to submit ours for us”
In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, experiences with lawyers and the timeline for applying for Spanish nationality seem to vary among individuals. Some people have had quick and smooth processes, while others have faced delays. It’s worth considering the option of submitting the application yourself if you have the necessary documentation and support. However, it’s essential to research and understand the specific requirements and regulations for applying for Spanish nationality, as the process can differ depending on your circumstances. Ultimately, the choice of whether to wait for the lawyer’s appointment or pursue the application independently depends on your personal situation and comfort level with the process.
