“We are up to our 2nd Spanish Non-Lucrative Visa renewal and the question is: Can I use my 401K as part of the financial requirements? We are a couple and it’s like 72K that they require.”

“Ask your consulate. You gonna get some people here saying yes and some no, that their consulate required quick access to money. And some will tell you that you have to be of retirement age, which means you have access to it without extra penalties, and it will count.”
“Yes, I recently used my 401k accounts to successfully renew in Sevilla. I just showed the summary page of each account.”

“My financial planner from Chase wrote a letter stating the total amount of money I had in all of my accounts, including my retirement accounts. He also stated I could withdraw the money when I want to. I did have to have the letter translated, but I didn’t include any bank statements and my paperwork was accepted at the city hall in Rota and sent to Cadiz’ yesterday. Hopefully, it will be approved.”
