Question
Has anybody had issues applying as a Brit to work at an international school in Spain? I heard they don’t want to take in people without an EU passport.
I have a NIE, social security number somewhere as I worked there before Brexit but I’ve been met with reluctance whenever I have tried applying for jobs.
Answers
These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
“To work you need a visa , NiE just for tax only, visa requirements are expensive from 500k to 28k savings and been able to show you have monthly income”
“NIE number (white A4 paper) or withdrawal agreement residency. (Green or TIE).”
“You now either need to hold a TIE or a work visa”
“I work for a British international school in Madrid and they do indeed sponsor visas for UK teachers particularly after Brexit as there is now a shortage of qualified teachers who are familiar with the curriculum. We are currently hiring for September too (not sure if all the posts are filled yet but worth looking into) dm me for more details…not sure if I can help much but maybe I can point you in the right direction”
“Welcome to Brexit. There’s no freedom as much as before. You would need to apply for a TIE through company sponsorship. There’s no easy way unless you got 28k € or more in your bank.”
