“We did this with our 4 kids (then ages 4-11) for the 2016-2017 school year. It was an awesome experience. I would definitely try to stick to the part of Spain where school is only in Spanish. My kids had also been in Spanish immersion and did well once they settled in. They went to public school.”

“We live in the Valencia region and the public schools teach in Valenciano here. We put our son in a British private school that costs us over 1,400€ per month. He has trouble with his classes as the curriculum is much more difficult than the public school he was in in the states. He also has a difficult time learning Spanish in his teenage years, compared to when he studied French when he was a bit younger.”

“I did this with my son and chose private international – we started at one and moved at three semesters to one that better suited his needs. He was able to have a private tutor the first three months on campus who worked with him in each class until he learned Spanish. It was painful at first – but after the first 3-4 months he excelled! One of the best things we ever did for him. Don’t worry! Make a plan and adjust as needed.”

“We just moved from Seattle a month ago. Same experience with Barcelona as expressed. Family is from Madrid but we chose Málaga. Not sure I’ve met nicer people in all of Spain and the best weather. Can’t say about kids in school as they mine are grown but I’m sure you’ll be able to find the right fit. We are finding everything easy to integrate into.”

“My grown son lives in Madrid. I am actually visiting now. He has also lived in Bilbao. Personally, I adore Madrid. I have been all over Spain and we are planning on purchasing a flat in Madrid, a place where all of our grown kids can come and spend time. We also plan to live there intermittently after I retire. Quality of life is huge here. Enjoy your adventures and bravo to you for providing your kids with this experience (and yourselves).”
