Question
I live in the US and plan to move to Valencia where my family lives in 3 years . Because I have US citizenship, I can’t claim my Spanish heritage ( Spain doesn’t allow it, even though my whole family – parents, grandparents, etc are from Spain) . I would like to open a bank account on this trip to Valencia ( I arrived yesterday) but I have no Spanish ID. How/ where can I open a bank account with my US passport?

“N26 online account”
“I believe that Valencia has Deutschbanks, which includes Bank of America. So if you have BOA, you’re good for traveling, and can use their atms.”
“I opened an account at the Deutsche Bank at the port with just a passport. They wanted to see my tax documents from the US which i brought but didn’t even look at them. Ask for Holger Breit. He is really nice and helped us a lot.”
“Most of the major Spanish banks will allow you to open an account with a passport – you just have to make it clear you want a non-residents account. Once you gain residency, you ask them to change it to a normal (residents) account.”
“We opened a non-resident bank account with BancoSabadell and then changed it to resident after we moved permanently.”
