Can you provide an official document for de-registration from an Australian home for Customs clearance in Spain?

Question

Finally our container is arriving from Australia next week. However, the Spanish customs have requested us to provide: “An official document stating you´ve de-registered from your home in Australia”. Has anyone gone through customs clearance in Spain?

Has anyone had to do this, and if so what that may be? I do have the sale contract of our Australian home but not sure if that is OK.

Answers

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:

First answer: “The letter you get from your solicitor that says how funds were distributed upon sale of house or similar should do.”

Second answer: “We had something similar moving from Singapore to Spain. We had to get a document from the Spanish Embassy that we were no longer registered with the embassy as living in Singapore.”

Third answer: “Sent my settlement letter of the sale of my house and it seems OK. The Agent was saying that they get funny in Canary Islands and ask for all sorts of documents not ever asked for on Peninsular”

Fourth answer: “We weren’t asked and our shipment came across in October”

Conclusion:
In conclusion, it seems that a document from a solicitor or an embassy stating de-registration from a previous home may be required for Spanish Customs clearance. It may vary depending on the location and it is best to check with the specific authorities for clarification.
