Looking for Canadian Spanish DNV applicants’ experiences with CRA’s Certificate of Coverage process. How does CRA approval work and what’s the usual duration?

Question

Anyone here from Canada that applied for the Certificate of Coverage which is required for the Spanish DNV application? I would like to know what is the CRA’s process of approval and how long does it take?

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:

”My lawyer in Spain says one of her clients just got the CPT125 approved. The turnaround was less than a month”

”yes I did – it took exactly 70 calendar days to get a positive response from CRA”

”For the CPT125, did your employer fill the document for you, or you sent it yourself? Also, what did you put in Address in the foreign country? And in Initial detachment and extension?”

In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, one member reported a quick approval in under a month, while another mentioned it took 70 days for a positive response from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Specific details about the approval process, the role of the employer, and the information for “Address in the foreign country” and “Initial detachment and extension” were not fully addressed in these responses. As such, it’s recommended to consult official sources or directly contact the CRA for accurate and current information on the application process.
