In the email, it says “You can mail in the pending document. Deadline July X th 2023.” I wasn’t sure about the mailing part since I seem to remember others have “emailed” instead of mailing. Does the consulate person really mean mail or email?

Good question and I want to know the answer also. Question. When did you send in your application? I sent mine on June 30th and the Houston Consulate signed for it on July 3rd. When did you get your acknowledgement of your application being received? Thanks in advance.
”At the Chicago consulate documents had to be MAILED”
”US San Francisco Consulate: I sent my package on June 1st on June 30th they sent me an email because my doctor is a DO and my medical certificate was rejected and I had to get an MD to sign a new medical certificate and I had to mail it in on Friday, July 7th. They did give me a tracking number this time and they told me that I can check their website for my results”
”They mean mail! If you don’t get it to them by their deadline you will have to start over! Happened to us! Delayed our trip by 2 months”

In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, consensus favours physically mailing additional papers in response to consulate requests. Chicago Consulate required mail; US San Francisco asked for mailed replacement medical documents. “Mail in the pending document” generally means physical mail. To prevent delays, follow deadlines and prioritize physical mailing. Some suggest sending scans via email too. While emailing happens, physically mailing documents is seen as more reliable.
