Question
“I have two questions about the Spain Non Lucrative Visa:
(1) What paperwork do I need to prove an adult child is a dependent? (not talking about one with disabilities, like I’ve seen some people mention online, but one that is completely financially dependent) – I’ve tried reaching out to the consulate in Miami and BLS but I haven’t gotten a response.
(2) Does the paperwork need to have 90 or fewer days of being issued for it to be accepted? If so, which papers?
Answers
These are the answers of Spainguru’s Facebook group members:
“To prove an adult child is dependent for the Spain Non Lucrative Visa, you need to show that you provide their health insurance, claim them as a dependent on your federal tax return, and show that they’re currently unemployed.
Their ID should also show your address. This information should help the consulate recognize your child as financially dependent on you.”
“We provided a notarized document that she was financially dependent on us while studying and swore she would not work. One pager, easy. Had it dated within 90 day to avoid issues.”
Conclusion
Proving an adult child as a dependent for the Spain Non-Lucrative visa involves presenting comprehensive documentation to establish financial dependency. This may include health insurance proof, tax records, and employment status.
It’s recommended to gather all pertinent documents and confirm with Spanish immigration authorities to ensure all requirements are met without complications.
