What happens when non lucrative Spain visa renewal is still “en trámite” and my TIE has expired?

Question about my non lucrative Spain visa renewal

What happens when non lucrative Spain visa renewal is still en trámite and my TIE has expired? Do I have to do anything? Kind of anxious of not having a valid ID

Answers

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:

“Wait”

“You will always have a time when you won’t have a valid TIE. Even if you renew 60 days before it’s expiration and it’s approved in those 60 days…they still won’t even take your fingerprints until your card is expired, at least that’s the case in Madrid. So even if you somehow managed to get your fingerprints done on the first day it’s possible – you’ll still have to wait (usually 30 ish days) to pick up your new card.”

“Do you not have a Passport? A TIE isn’t a valid form of ID, it’s a valid form of proving legal Residency within Spain.”
