Spain Student Visa Application at Los Angeles Consulate – June 2024

first hand experience community answers

I just had my appointment yesterday for my Spain Student Visa Application in Los Angeles and wanted to share my experience and maybe a tip that almost costed me my application!

I honestly had an insanely positive experience; the consulars were very friendly and timely. My appointment was at 11:10 and I was seen at 11:20.

Everything was going smooth until the medical certificate… The form the doctor gave me was not the correct format and they would not accept this and wanted specifically the one from the website.

On the website it says suggested form but nothing about it being required so before I thought I was fine.

I asked if I could email the correct form and they said no, I’d have to make another appointment. I was lucky enough to hear some other people missing things like the correct money order and they were giving them one hour to get this, so I asked if I could have an hour to correct the medical form, and while it was highly unlikely I’d be able to, they let me try.

I ended getting it corrected with 15 minutes left… it was a very close call.

All that to say they saw me when I came back but it took some time, which is understandable since they had other appointments, but I’m so grateful that they were very helpful and in the end understanding of the situation.

I think my dad also was able to help me since he is a fluent Spanish speaker (he’s Argentine) which I feel helped a lot. So, if they have a form suggested, use it!

I was terrified because the reviews were not good but I am honestly shocked with how nice they were, I’ve dealt with consulates before and have not had positive experiences and this was really a breath of fresh air, so anyone applying for their student visa, just have everything they ask for to the T and you’ll be okay.

Also in terms of the money order it is confusing I thought it was 88$ it’s 160$ so be aware. Good luck!

Conclusion

Preparing for a Spain Student Visa application in Los Angeles requires meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding official forms and payment amounts.

Applicants should adhere strictly to consulate recommendations, even if certain documents are labeled as ‘suggested.’ A supportive community and resources like fluent Spanish speakers can significantly enhance the application experience.
