Question
We are buying a villa which is not furnished, so we’re bringing over some of our furniture. Anyone know of a reasonably priced removal company, UK to Spain (Alicante area)?
One quote was £11,000—ridiculous! Another is around £7,000. We also wondered about doing it ourselves, but we’re not getting any younger and don’t want to do our backs in! Thanks in advance.

“Quotes seem about correct if they include the tax for taking items into Spain from the UK.”
“£11k is taking the biscuit. We normally charge about £5,500 per van load, which includes all the paperwork and Spanish tax.”
“Indalo Transport and Storage are brilliant—used them twice now. They do all the paperwork, and it was less than €5,000.”
“Max Movers are excellent, highly recommended. We’re using them at the moment, and they also came highly recommended! Paying less than that from the west of Scotland.”
“We just used Mercia Movers, based in Tamworth, for just over £4,500, including three months of storage. They handled all the customs/import paperwork, arrived on time, and unloaded quickly. Great people.”
“Swift Removals and Storage. 💯 Used them twice—very good service.”
“Algarve Removals is great! Don’t be fooled by the name; they also handle UK to Spain. They manage everything, including customs paperwork.”

“We paid £2,400 total in October 2021 when we moved on our NLV. It took about 10 days as they stored items first, but I wouldn’t recommend that company due to some damage.”
“Family Movers from Dereham, Norfolk, are storing our goods until the move to Spain is finalized. The cost is around £7,000.”
“Swift Removals moved us from Chester to Murcia in April. It was just over £3,450 for 55 pieces, including boxes and cases.”
“£11,000 gets you a lot of furniture… just buy it in Spain and save yourself the hassle.”
Conclusion
Finding a reliable and reasonably priced removal company for moving from the UK to Spain can be challenging. While quotes for full-service movers vary widely, many group members recommend companies like Mercia Movers, Swift Removals, and Max Movers for their reliable service and competitive prices.
Options such as Algarve Removals and Camero Removals were also highlighted for their handling of customs paperwork and affordability. For those who want to avoid the cost altogether, some suggest buying new furniture in Spain as a more economical option.
