Hello, all! Happy to share with you my successful Spain Non Lucrative Visa Renewal Experience on my own.
Location:
I’m based in Granada and submitted my renewal application to the Oficina de Extranjería in Granada.
Processing Time:
I submitted the renewal online on October 15, 2024, and received a notification of successful resolution on November 28, 2024. The total processing time was 44 calendar days.
Renewal Period:
The renewal extends the NLV for an additional two years.
Documents Submitted:
- Passport & TIE: Color copies of the entire passport (all pages, including covers) and TIE (front and back), each compressed to under 5MB.
- Proof of Financial Means: A bank reference letter listing all accounts and amounts, along with 12 months of non-translated bank statements. Only the reference letter was translated into Spanish.
- Health Insurance: A letter from Adeslas confirming no copays, repatriation coverage, and automatic renewal.
- Tasa 790-052 Payment: Proof of payment.
- Proof of Integration (Optional): Included documents such as empadronamiento, utility bills, class enrollments, and participation in activities.
Questions and Answers
Q1: Did you submit bank statements for a specific account?
A1: My bank provided a single statement summarizing all accounts and balances.
Q2: Is empadronamiento necessary for renewal?
A2: It’s not officially required, but I included it as it’s easy to obtain online in Granada.
Q3: How did you submit the renewal?
A3: Through the online Mercurio system: Mercurio Extranjería. A digital certificate or Clave is needed.
Q4: How can I get a digital certificate or Clave?
A4: Detailed instructions are available here.
Q5: Is proof of integration mandatory for NLV renewal?
A5: No, it’s not required, but I added it to show commitment to living in Spain.
Q6: Do you need private insurance for renewal if you qualify for public healthcare?
A6: It’s optional. I chose to stick with private insurance for simplicity and negotiated a better rate with Adeslas (Contact here a top Adeslas exclusive agent).
