How can I find rentals that allow pets or ESA (emotional support animals)?

Question

Pets. We can’t seem to find rentals that allow pets. Is there such a thing as emotional support? Can they agree if we offer an additional deposit?

“We rented a house in Barcelona and pets were allowed. We had 2 Boxers and a cat. We only looked at rentals where pets were allowed. Depends on what and how many. Finding an apartment might be hard. But money always talks.”

“There are no emotional support laws in Spain. You’ll just have to try to negotiate with the apartment owner.”

“You can search for places that accept pets, though sometimes it’s tricky. We searched like this but where we moved finally won’t allow dogs because they might ruin the fence. But we could bring our pet bunny.”

“Almost everywhere allows pets. Just none of them say so in the advertisements. Unless it specifically says “no pets,” assume that they probably will allow pets and then communicate that you have lovely well-behaved animals and would be willing to pay an extra month’s deposit (in the case of a furnished place) to cover any problems. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and the openness of most places.”
