Do You Need Double IPREM to Renew the Non-Lucrative Visa?

I was told told that when applying for year 2/3 of the Spanish Non lucrative visa renewal you don’t need evidence of the new Iprem value of 72000€. Is this right?

“That is correct, the requirements are now the same as first year”

“Only in a couple of regions will require the same as first year, not in all and each case should be assessed individually, it depends how your funds are built up.”

“Be careful and find out from a professional in your specific region what is being asked for. Just to mention some examples, in Málaga, Granada and Almería (Andalucía) you have to show double the amount shown initially.”

“If the residency was gained on a lump sum of savings, and not an investment or pension that continues to pay out, then double the sum needs to be shown – i.e. 24 months of the monthly “income” – so essentially 800% IPREM for the first applicant and 200% each for any family members.”

“We have long used the 6 month average method BUT lately (about 2 weeks) they have begun asking for 400% iprem savings for some (very inconsistent) folks in both Alicante and València. Haven’t heard from other areas in last 2 weeks.
So for full ease we recommend now:

  1. Saldo de cuenta (Account balance)
  2. Saldo medio 6 month (minimum) or anual when possible. (Account balance average 6-12 months)
  3. A single statement summary page from your external account (back in the US for example) showing 1 years funds based on your family iprem. (Certified & translated If not in Spanish)
  4. Spanish bank
  5. An average across time which they consider periodic
  6. Enough funds for 1 year which is the requirement to renew even for 2 year periods.

The authorities have never asked for 800 IPREM for years 2/3 and 4/5 only the same as the initial application 400% of IPREM. Moving the proper amount to Spain is key there. Here’s the language they use. They ask to see Iprem monthly in Spain and how you access the external funds.”

“Approved in Granada, just showed lump sum from our US account. We provided 3 months statements that were certified translated into Spanish. We had the amount needed for 2 years for our family based on the NLV requirements.”

“We got approved showing US funds. We gave our Spanish bank statement and our US bank statement. The Spanish one didn’t have enough in it for the requirements for renewal so I’m really not sure what the point of it is but we do it anyway. Our funds to show the two years requirements for renewal were in the US bank. This is for Granada province”
