Question about Spain non lucrative visa and TIE card
I have had a home in Spain for 15 years, NIE number, Spanish bank accounts with mortgage, registered for Suma. So my question is do I need to apply for a Spain non lucrative visa as I would like to stay longer than 90 days or should/ would I be eligible for a TIE card?

These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
”You still need to apply for Spain non lucrative visa, sorry”
”Spain non lucrative visa”
”The Spain non lucrative visa is what entitles you to get a TIE card (assuming you are a non-EU passport holder, such as UK). If you are an Irish or other EU passport holder, then it’s different”
”I assume you have a UK passport? From what you have said you have a house, spanish accounts etc… but you are not and never have been resident in Spain (and weren’t resident pre 1 Jan 2021)? If that is the case then having a property gives you no advantage and yes you will need a visa”
”Oh and FYI, the Spain non lucrative visa doesn’t simply give you the opportunity to extend your stay but is a route to residency so it comes with both costs and conditions, one of which is restricting the amount of time you can be outside Spain in the five years of the Spain non lucrative visa preceding permanent residency status. So if you are simply seeking greater flexibility and extended stays but not seeking to relocate full time to Spain this isn’t going to be the solution. Sadly there is no solution unless you invest half a million or more in property and thus qualify for the golden visa”
”Money”
”Same as all other British passport holders you’ll need to apply for an Spain non lucrative visa and abide by the rules”
In conclusion, according to Spainguru Facebook group members, owning a home in Spain for 15 years with a NIE and other credentials doesn’t exempt UK passport holders from visa requirements post-1 Jan 2021. If you weren’t a resident before this date, you’d likely need a Spain non lucrative visa (NLV) for stays longer than 90 days. The Spain non lucrative visa, while a pathway to residency, has specific costs and conditions, including time spent outside Spain. For extended stays without full-time relocation, consider alternatives like the golden visa through significant property investment.
