“Find Spainguru’s recommended brokers and exclusive agents who can provide quotes for the most important health insurance companies in Spain, for NLV compliant policies: https://spainguru.es/services-for-spanish-visas/“
“We use Salus. We googled for medical centers that accept Salus in Alicante. It’s been easy to use. Your insurance has to be ‘sin copago’ (no co-payments) and zero deductibles. Other than the insurance, we’ve paid nothing for our two visits to the doctor.”
“I’ve read about people having issues getting things paid. Salus is €500 cheaper than our DKV/Caser quote, which makes me worry.”

“ASSSA. They are incredibly helpful throughout and after the policy is taken out. 10/10 service from them.”
“Adeslas—brilliant!”
“ASSSA. We chose them because they were a mid-range quote and had good hospital and doctor availability in our region.”
“I’ve been with ASSSA, and it was awful service. Just moved to DKV.”
“Sanitas has been good for us, and our policy includes dental.”
“DKV. We switched to them after Sanitas because the service and availability in our new region were much better. Their top-tier plan (no deductible) is also 20% cheaper.”
Conclusion
Choosing the right health insurance for a Spain non-lucrative visa depends on your location, budget, and specific medical needs.
Popular options include Salus, ASSSA, Sanitas, Adeslas, and DKV, each with distinct pros and cons. Many members emphasize the importance of confirming that your chosen provider covers the hospitals and doctors in your area.
Here’s a ranking of health insurance companies in Spain by amount of issued policies (%)
ASSSA receives praise for its service but has mixed reviews, with some citing poor experiences. Adeslas, Sanitas and DKV are widely recommended, especially for families, with DKV offering competitive top-tier plans. Salus is another budget-friendly choice but requires careful research to confirm coverage availability.
