Question
I have just arrived on an NLV. I have brought my uk car with me as personal belongings. I am currently in the process of changing my uk car to Spanish reg plates with traffico, and i have had my lights changes for itv.. My question is, what documents, certificates and forms do i need to avoid the import/customs tax?
Answers
These are the answers of some Facebook group members:
“We moved to Spain end of July from Switzerland and brought our car with us. We have done this process and I just can recommend you to get help from a gestor. It is very complicated and now after 3 months we will recieve our spanish plates this week. The gestor will tell you which paper you have to bring. Good luck and have much patience. It has been very hard, even though we have made everything correct and have got all the papers.”
“If you register your car before youve been here 6 months there is no import duty just a customs charge of about 200 euros. You need your tie. I advise you use someone to help you with the forms. The itv has to be arranged. The fog light needs to be moved if on wrong side and tyres have to be the same in each axle. I have just imported my car. Any questions message me. Good luck.”
