Bank statements in Manchester for the Spanish Non Lucrative Visa: Do They Need Wet Stamps? - September 2025

Question

“Has anyone applied for the Spanish Non Lucrative Visa to Manchester recently. We have been told we need to provide 12 months of bank statements wet stamped. We use online banking and have contacted our bank, who say they don’t offer this service. Does anyone have a similar experience of how to get round this. Also we have three bank accounts, joint and two individual. Can we just submit the joint account which is where our pension income goes?”

Answers

These are the answers from Spainguru’s Facebook group members:

“Did ours last October (2024) and was told as long as the statements show the bank details, your details and your address and are printed in colour they would be acceptable. Ours were Printed online from Nationwide app and accepted without issue. A lot of banks will not stamp statements now.”

“We printed our own statements then just took the top ones of each month to the bank and they stamped them no bother I was with Halifax was much easier if you can do it that way 🙂”

“We did ours via London this August 2025: We got a covering letter from the bank, We have 4 accounts, One each, One joint, One savings, We sent statements from all of them unstamped”

“We just printed ours off …”

“We had to have 12 months and stamped by the bank as verified as originals”

“We submitted our joint account, our bank stamped ours , but if you send an accompanying letter stating that your bank doesn’t stamp any more, that might help”

“We never had ours stamped but that was in September 2024”

“We were advised to write a covering letter to explain the situation and translate it .”

“Mine wasn’t stamped, most banks have stopped it due to money laundering. Accepted mine not being stamped but needed 12 months worth.”

Conclusion

From this discussion, Manchester applicants report mixed experiences with bank statements for the Spanish NLV. Some were accepted with colour-printed online statements showing names, account details, and address, while others were asked for wet-stamped verification or provided a bank covering letter.

Several members submitted 12 months of statements, with some including multiple accounts and others using only a joint account where income is paid.

Key practical notes include: 12 months appears common, a wet stamp may be requested by Manchester in some cases, and many banks no longer stamp due to anti-fraud policies. A translated bank letter explaining the bank’s policy helped some applicants, and printing statements in colour with full identifying details was reported as acceptable by others.

If you’re applying in Manchester, prepare 12 months of bank statements in colour, include the joint account where pension income lands, and request a bank letter if stamping is unavailable. This article is based on personal opinions from the Spainguru community and is not legal advice.
