Question
I am working full-time and will only give up work if I know I have been approved to move. Is this possible, or do I need to be unemployed before I can apply for a Spain Non Lucrative Visa? I don’t want to end up unemployed unnecessarily.

“You don’t have to quit your job before getting the visa. Most people only resign once their visa has been approved. However, having your P45 ready or an equivalent document might be necessary to prove that you have ceased employment at the time of your application.”
“It’s usually not required to quit your job before applying, but having a notarized letter stating that you will resign if your visa is approved can be helpful.”
“Some consulates might request to see your P45 or a letter from your employer as part of the visa application process, especially if you’re applying from the UK.”
“In my case, I was advised by the consulate that I need to provide a P45 showing that I’m no longer employed at the time of my application.”
“You can continue to work while your visa is being processed. However, some consulates ask for a resignation letter accepted by your employer, effective before your move.”
“Consider consulting with a reputable visa service as they can guide you on specific documentation needed based on the consulate’s requirements where you will apply.”
Conclusion
Navigating the job resignation requirement for the Spain non-lucrative visa can be complex, varying by individual circumstances and consulate specifications.
While it’s generally not necessary to quit your job before receiving visa approval, being prepared to show proof of pending resignation or cessation of employment can be crucial.
Consulting with a visa service or checking with the specific consulate can provide clarity and help avoid unnecessary employment gaps.
