Spain Digital Nomad Visa: Can I Qualify Without a Fixed Monthly Income?

Question

I’ve heard you need to show a fixed income for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa. Is this true? I’m a therapist so I have different amounts of clients throughout the year, so I don’t have a fixed income.

Answers

These are the answers of Spainguru’s Spain Digital Nomad Visa group members:

“For Spain Digital Nomad Visa it needs to be a business, not clients you work with. Someone else comment if I’m wrong. If you have an LLC for your practice that would be different.”

“I’m a therapist as well looking into applying for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa. From my understanding from all the consultations I’ve had, you just have to meet the minimum monthly income requirement.”

“I bill my client for hours. I applied with 3 invoices of different amounts, all greater than the minimum. I got approved.”

“I didn’t try to redact my client’s name and doing so seems strange to me. The client’s name is obviously on my invoices and it also appears on the ACH deposits on my bank statements.

Plus, I had to provide a certificate of good standing for my client’s business and a letter from my client stating that I’m allowed to work remotely from Spain. I don’t see how it would be possible to provide all that information and still redact the client’s name.”

“It sounds like you are self-employed. Do you meet the minimum requirements on a monthly basis? (Even if it varies.)”

“Yes, but I would recommend applying after 3 months of non-holiday months so that you show invoices + bank statements of months where you do meet the income requirement rather than holiday months.”

Conclusion

The feedback from members indicates that a fixed monthly income isn’t strictly required to qualify for the Spain Digital Nomad Visa.

As long as applicants can demonstrate that they consistently meet the minimum income requirement, even if their earnings fluctuate, they have a chance of approval. Many suggested presenting invoices and bank statements showing income that exceeds the threshold, and emphasized the importance of ensuring the income source aligns with the visa’s requirements (such as having a business entity).

Additionally, timing the application to include non-holiday months might strengthen the application by demonstrating consistent income during standard working periods.
