Question
We are in the process of applying for a Spain Digital Nomad Visa. We got a letter from the UGE saying that the Certificate of Existence needed a date of incorporation.
In Oregon, they don’t put that on the certificate. Anyone had experience on how to work around this? Thanks!
Answers
These are the answers of Spainguru’s Spain Digital Nomad Visa group members:
“I would recommend asking UGE for the 5 extra days and trying to get a new certificate that includes the right information along with the apostille. You will need a fast-track service that can do it for you in days.”
“I’m applying next month, and my company is also based in Oregon, so I have the same concern. The Oregon Secretary of State’s website business search tool does show the date of incorporation, so my lawyer suggested we provide a printout of that along with a letter explaining that Oregon doesn’t put the date on the certificate. We’re hoping that will work, but I’d love to hear how yours works out.”
“A friend suggested getting an apostilled copy of the company’s articles of incorporation. You can use the form for ‘Other Certificate Needs’ at the Oregon Secretary of State website for this. If you’re short on time, you may need to find a local expeditor in Oregon to do this in person and scan/email you a copy.”
Conclusion
For applicants seeking the Spain Digital Nomad Visa, providing a date of incorporation on a Certificate of Existence can be challenging for companies based in Oregon, where this information isn’t typically included.
Some potential workarounds include requesting an extension from UGE, providing a business search printout showing the incorporation date along with an explanatory letter, or obtaining an apostilled copy of the company’s articles of incorporation.
Consulting an immigration lawyer and, if necessary, utilizing expedited services for documentation can help ensure the process moves forward smoothly.
