Spain Non Lucrative Visa: My Experience at Miami Consulate- November 2024

first hand experience community answers

Finally able to pick up our Spain Non Lucrative Visa at the Miami BLS, thank God! Thank you very much to those on this forum who helped us out, we truly appreciate it! Please keep helping others out because, even though there is a lot of information online, there are also details that aren’t mentioned in the BLS website or the Spanish government website, since some things vary by consulate.

For reference, we are a couple who applied through the Miami BLS, using social security and pensions, and our 30+ daughter also applied jointly with us. If anyone is in this specific situation (because the paperwork required is a bit different, specifically for our dependent) and you need help, let me know, and I’ll do my best to answer questions.

Questions and Answers

Q1: “Did you sell and give away your furniture, or are you shipping it?”
A1: “We sold electronics and gave away some old clothes and house stuff. We donated an old bedroom set to the Salvation Army. However, we are shipping almost everything, including a lot of furniture and boxes.”

Q2: “Which moving company did you use?”
A2: “We used Crown Relocations. They were recommended by a friend who moved to Japan. They’ve been very attentive, and their service includes video calls to assess what you’re moving for an accurate quote.”

Q3: “Do they notify you when your visa is ready?”
A3: “For Miami, we received a text message when it was ready for pick-up.”

Q4: “What documents did you need to include an adult dependent in your application?”
A4: “We needed a Single Status certificate from her county courthouse, notarized and apostilled by the Florida State Department, and sworn translated.

We also provided proof of financial dependency, including tax returns and health insurance documents, all sworn translated.

Additionally, we included a notarized and apostilled affidavit confirming her single status, financial dependency, and commitment not to work in Spain.”

A5: “For Miami, after submitting all documents, it took about 5 business days to get approval. Delays may occur if additional documents are requested.”

Q6: “Can you apply through Miami if you don’t live there?”
A6: “You must apply through the consulate that corresponds to your state of residence. Proof of residence, like a driver’s license or state ID, is required.”
